We are in the process of modernizing our midcentury Calgary bungalow, and it was time to upgrade the range to gas, so I needed to a run a new hookup to the kitchen.
I was referred to Steel Horse Heating & Air by a colleague at work. I’ve worked with many different trades over the course of our on-going renovation, and so always prefer referrals from people I know, who’ve actually hired the contractor their recommending.
I gave Steel Horse a call and Steve came out to quote the job the next day. He took the time to walk me though his recommended approach based on the unique circumstances of the gas lines in my house, and gave me a clear estimate afterwards. I cost was very reasonable and after his thorough explanation, I had a full understanding of what the work would be.
When I mentioned I was still shopping for which range I wanted, he took a moment point out we had a 200v electrical outlet, but that some all-gas ranges only use 120V, which would mean modifying the existing electrical and possibly swapping the fuse. It was a good catch that actually convinced us to go upgrade to dual fuel rather than paying to an electrician to change the electrical hookup.
We booked the job a week later on a Monday morning at 9am. Steve sent me a note to remind me on the Friday before, and showed up exactly on time on Monday. The job took precisely the time he said it would and the final cost was completely in-line with the estimate. He hooked the range up, tested everything and the work area was spotless when he was done.

We booked an appointment and they were out the next day, with the part needed, installed a new water tank quickly and efficiently. 3 weeks later our air conditioner wasn't working Steel Horse to the rescue they had the problem diganoised within the hour, we had an old system that was originally installed incorrectly and may of caused a fire if it overheated. We had a brand new air-conditioning unit installed next day tips on how to cool house efficiently & things to watch for. Pricing was very reasonable. I was referred to SteelHorse Heating and Air through a friend at work who used them to install a air conditioning unit. I was tired of not sleeping well through the summer months because of how hot it was upstairs in my house and being tired throughout my work day. Steve the owner came by at a time that worked for me and quoted us on the installation.
After thinking about it for the night we signed up and had a new air conditioner installed by the next week, we had other quotes Steve had the best priced package with great equipment. I can't say enough about my experiences with SteelHorse company and Steve. He installed a new furnace and hot water tank for us a couple of years ago and installed my hook up for my gas stove and changed some pipes during my kitchen renovation. His work is impeccable.
